Does it always swim sideways to just one side, or does it spend time equally on both sides?

I think it just favors the one side

I think the logic is:

Case 1: if the Aro swims sideways in just one direction (i.e. say the right side of the Aro is always facing upwards regardless of which direction he is swimming in): There is something wrong with one of the eyes of the Arowana.

Case 2: If the Aro DOES NOT swim sideways in just one direction (i.e. say the right side is facing upwards when swimming in one direction..when swimming in opposite direction, the left side of the Aro is facing upwards): There is a bright light source in the room, brighter than light in the tank. The Aro is using that external light source as reference and swimming (or trying to swim) perpendicular to that external light source. Hence, sideways to the normal direction

@Brian, please correct me if I'm wrong..

Good luck to OP,
Sid

I think his eye may have gotten injured then. I originally had three baby silvers (2 intended for other friends) in a 29g to pellet train them. maybe one of the other ones hurt him. I noticed him swimming funny in the 29, thinking it was just a lack of space, so i quickly threw them in the 150. gahhhh, i think i may give this one away and get a good one. this batch was wild caught too :(

sorry to derail, but my aro is doing Case 2: swimming sideways in both sides. is there any more reason and cure for why it's doing this?

Prolly swim bladder, maybe the quality of water at pet store wasnt up to par. Add some salt and keep water changes up, Ive seen aros heal their swim bladder problem.

hmm might be swim bladder but to narrow it, i notice you have berry berry bright light, try to shut if off and observe if it change the swimming behaviour, due to aro is top swimmer, it might blind it eyes, so it tried to avoid the too much light on his 1 swim movement at a time.
to loose a egg sacks at that lenght is pretty big size, i have wild aro about 2 inch now recently aquired and it has no eggsack
