Hey all,
So while feeding my arowana it suddenly jumped. No scale damage only a tear on the anal fin.
So i have put a heater put it on 30 degrees Celsius put some rock salt,Added some methyl blue and did a 80% WC..
Now its 16cm right now in a 50 liter tank(I know its really small) Tomorrow getting my 4 feet tank ready with white background, base and sides.
Ill wait for the fish to heal completely then shift or after the tank is cycled?
Also i am feeding with live platy(homebred) to get a faster growth...
Should i do more WC as the fish is injured or just stick to the 20% a week?
Thanks,
Nithin

Just tear away that flipping piece of torn finnage and it will be good to go.

Snip it with some small scissors or use a razor blade. Lay the fish on a wet towel and cover with a wet towel.

Uarujoey made a video on this.

Clove oil. He talks about it in the video if you turn up the volume.
Thanks! I did hear it but didn't understand it because i didn't know what it was (these things I normally only know in portuguese), but now I can research and find the word in portuguese. Thanks again

Clove oil eh oleo de cravinho, Antonio. Muito cuidado, que matas o peixe.

The difference between putting the fish to sleep and kill it is very narrow, Antonio.

Check with your LFS if they are selling fish stablilizer of some sort. If they do just purchase a bottle.

And do not trim the whole anal finnage away! Just tearaway the flipping pieces along the hard ray of the fish will do the trick.

I have been doing this very often in the farm and some times at home to some of my fish which require me to do an out water op or treatment on open wound. The key is dose the stabilizer slowly and check on the fish reaction to it.
