I have a 180 with full glass tops and a canopy. I want to house a Black Aro in it. Do I need additonal locks for the lids? I am worried after hearing how prone to jumping they are. The lids I have are glass and pretty heavy, and the canopy is wood and totally covers the top of the tank. Should I fabricate additional methods of securing the lids??

Try to weigh them down with somthing.

They will smash through the lids.

try changing the glass covers with acrylic and put some filled plasitic bottles of water

a friend suggested that i put a hinge lock on the lid to secure it.
I agree with the acrylic top being better than glass.

Right now i weight my glass with a rock , a huge submersible pump and several large bottles filled with antichlorine. I have 2 aros around 15 and bigger, and i sometimes fear for the day that they try to jump.

how thick of acrylic would you guys use for the top? Also would you use normal aquarium hindges and stuff?

Hinge locks work great, I used them with eels, they are discrete and cheap, you can buy them at glass shops and some hardware stores.
