length and width matter more than height.. go as big as you can afford
 
black aros and motoros will be pushing your 6' tank in a about a year. RTC is not advisable at all unless you plan to have something really big in the future ... and within a year.

PS: a shorter RTC can easily eat longer aro (been there and suffered for that)

Without the proper height the tank won't work. It does not matter how big you make the foot print. Sure as hell don't want the aros and the rays swimming side by side.

Ya I figured I would start with a considerable size difference, and when the rtc got too big, get him his own tank.
