Does anyone know what tankmates arowana can live with? My arowana is a total *******, killing my peacock bass and Florida gar.

Did I do anything wrong? I know for a fact the two that died are compatible fishes with arowanas. Should I have instead had a group of 3 peacock bass, to spread out the aggression as well? I have seen thousands of tanks where people keep arowanas with peacock bass and gars, why doesn’t mine work?

Now the only top/ mid dwelling fish is my arowana besides my bichirs. I would definitely like another swimming tankmate, is there any recommendations? Where could I improve on?

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've had a Silver Arowana with a Florida Gar, Datnoid, and Bichir but Florida Gar jumped out. About 2 months after losing the gar the Silver Arowana was found dried up on the basement floor. It seemed like all the fish were getting along prior.

By what I seem to remember you have a 6ft tank. An single aro will claim complete territory over it .
The only fish safe will be those not obstructing the aro's area.
If you want to add tankmates,
1. For tankmates that are similar to the aro like gars or other aro. You'll have to get multiple. If you add only 1 , it will get targeted.
2. For non related mates, like oscars, pbass etc. Get them bigger than your aro . But it will still be a miss or hit.
Anything smaller than the aro will be harassed.
Best way to form an aro community is to get the community going and then adding the aro at last.

Good chance you just have an aggressive/very territorial aro. Best bet would be larger tankmates but still a chance your aro will stress them out to death. I generally avoid raising a young aro by itself or purchasing a medium/adult aro that has no exposure to tankmates. Those raised in solitary are generally more territorial from what I've seen/experienced. But of course, some are just aggressive by nature, regardless if it grew up with tankmates.

Ah I see. I should have kept them in a group instead. I did get the community goibg at first, but after the aro got used to the tank it started showing it’s aggression. Maybe I should do I group of red hooks/ silver dollars, or a group of P bass. Anyone know anything about snakeheads? Here to learn more about them

How big is your aro ?
If it's still in the 10-12" Range I would suggest you setup a 3*18*18 temporary home for the aro and put it in there.
Get whatever tankmates you want , be it silver dollars ( the bigger ones -5-6") , p bass (7-8") , get maybe 3-4 or more, put them in the tank and let them adjust for maybe 1-2 weeks or maybe a month then try to introduce the aro back.
by what I remember you had your aro from small and also had tankmates with it. But still the aro is aggressive, I think you have a very little chance with tankmates.

Not in the mood to start a debate again, but if your tank is 6 ft , it's not adequate for a pbass long term.
Oscars could be a choice or maybe medium sized silver dollars.
Had it been my tank I'd consider the aro and maybe 3-4 bichirs the best stock.
