Arowana tankmates, aggression

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I see your point, thinking of either kelberi bass or redhooks. Leaning more to bass as in my country they sell 8 medium sized pescock bass for $50 LOL. Redhooks however cost $50-60 for one

Does anyone know anything about datnoids? Do they need to be in groups to prevent arowana aggression?

What kind of arowana are we talking about?

I'm no expert but,
By what I know of datnoids it's either 1 or more than 3 . They're kind of aggressive towards each other due to hierarchy. Do some research as some dat species are aggressive than the others. But if you get multiple dats I think the bichir will find it hard to get food.

Ah never mind then. 3 datnoids would grow too big for my tank. Would 1 datnoid be able to defend itself against an RTG? If not I’ll find redhooks. If the redhooks are too ex I’ll get pbass instead

Get a group of red hooks and if you want a dat, just get one.
The dat would grow large but it'll take time so take that into consideration when selecting the size. I suggest at least a 6" Dat.
If you just go with 1 dat without SD, the aro may attack it seeing it as 1 odd fish in its territory.

Here’s my final decision:

5 SD, possibly 1 datnoid.

No more P bass for me :)
