Arowana with Stingrays...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think arowanas make the best tank mates.

They occupy opposite areas of the tank so they never seem to confront each other.

awesome i was just looking into this. as I have been so interested in keeping both. And I was torn on choosing an aro or a ray.. now :D I can try and find a black aro and I can get a small ray :d sweet :D

Sorry to hear they had to go... just out of curiosity, what size tank were they in?

I had them in my 212 gallon tank.. They were in there with other fish too.. My food bill was "CRAZY" !!! I was feeding 2+ fish fillets a day plus pellets too.. Needless to say i only have rays now, all my fish are now gone..:(
Alot of ppl would say it's too packed but i had alot of filtration, and never had one ounce of aggression problems in there..

Very common combo IMO. I have and have had that combo for several years.

Any tankmate will pose a potential danger, but besides another ray this is the safest and most logical tankmate for a stingray. Both need a large tank, they both need a very similar diet, and I have never heard of a confrontation between animals of similar size. I think it is a perfect combo, and it even works in a biotope- they are both from the same ecosystem. :)
