Gouramis aren't related to arowanas but they're nice fish.

which suburb are you in.... that will help clarify which good lfs is around or close to you. after reading the thread... arowanas are definately not a good idea for your current setup. Gouramis are a great idea like the honeys and opaline glues or yellows, but if he wants a giant gourami his going to need a bigger tank regardless.

Sorry I can't recomend a store (I live in Canada) but I can recomend a fish, look at pearl gouramis, their one of the nicest you can get.

OK i found out which fish he really wants. It's called a Saratoga!? and its related to an arowana...

Saratoga are arowanas. Your still looking at a 2-3 foot fish and Saratoga are generally very aggressive
