Don't yell at me please but I have never kept a Arrowana and the search function sucks so I can't find anything. I type in Arrowana and it gives me every thread with those letters in it not the word.

1.)I want to know what are tank dimensions needed for a full grown Arrowana.

2.) How many gallons is required for bioload??

3.) Are they aggressive like can other fish be housed with them??

4.) What are some good tank mates for arrowanas???

Arowana is the correct spelling.

Bigger is better. I've seen one kept in a 260 and he seemed happy.
I like to think of a 300 as an ideal tank for an aro.

I dont think they're aggressive, but mine is only 6"... lets see what everyone else has to say...

what arowana do you have in mind?

tank size

silvers 220+ [7'x30"x2'tall]
blacks 180+ [6'x2'x2'tall]
asians 180+ ^^^^
african 150+ [5'x2'x2'tall]

tank mates

anything that isnt too aggressive like cichlids
arowanas can be aggresive especially to their own kind

hope that helps a little bit
:D

i have a nice black 30" aro and he is with my cross catfish and two four line cats and does great. he is in a 120 gallon tank

you have a 30" balsck arow in a 120:screwy:

I know you said no cichlids but could mild cichlids like oscars and severums be ok??? even discus??

what are the difference in the aros??? just colours or is there behaviour differences as well???? the only ones I have seen are the common silver ones. Plus my LFS owner has two very expensive ones that are not for sale, they are a Gold and a Red. Not sure if either is asian or african or whatever. Can someone give me a good link to do some reading on different Aro's. I want to know what I am talking about before I buy one.

Thanks

I've heard of Discus being Kept with Asian arowana before.

Which type of arowana were you thinking of keeping?

For asian arowana a good sized tank is usually recommended to be: 5x2.5x2 though that would be for a fish which would max out at around 2 feet and I have seen pictures of reds twice that.

Edited to add: TheWIkipedia entry for arowana shows a considerable amount of taxonomic and distribution information.
This is the link to Asians (the red and gold you saw)

ok I like the reds and the red tailed golden... I have just read that they are asians.. So do asians not get as big as the south american ones???

Does anyone know a good arowana dealer?? I rarely see them in stores where I am from. Is there like a jeff rapps of arowanas out there somewhere??
