Get an Asian or Jar. They don't grow as big/long as the SA Arowanas, so tanks can be smaller (To a degree).

Also, a little note is that most fish in captivity never do get to their max wild size. Whether it be lack of nutrition or swimming space, I'm not sure.

BTW, most of the 30+ inch SA Arowanas I ever hear about are Silvers. Anything higher than 24-26 inches for a black seems odd to me.

x2, and anyways, jars and asians are less flexible than silvers, so technically, you'd still be getting around the same size tank, maybe a bit smaller.

You should get a Red Asian for around 500$ if you are American/ European and 100$ if you are Asian and you can put it in a 120 for a long time like maybe 1-2 years

i would say at lease a 170gall for 1 full grown aro i have 2 silver aros that r soon out growing my 100gal and i would keep them with large cichilds because the aros snatch the food quicker than it can dropp the the bottom for my large cat fishes
