I think for some people that are maybe aquascaping challenged, or don't want to bother looking all over for a good piece of driftwood it would be a great product.
Also, as mentioned, some people don't like the water staining that real driftwood can cause.
For me personally I'd rather have a real piece of driftwood, whether I have to hunt around for it or not, and I kind of like the brownish tint that wood like mopani gives an aquarium
Makes it look more natural.
I do know a lot of people that would rather have some kind replica though.
For me, I'd benefit more from a natural looking replica of rocks. I like the way stacked rocks look, and I'm about to make a natural looking rocky enviroment for my shadow bass in a 65g tank, but real rocks displace SO much water and can be very heavy. It's the only thing I hate about them.
