Asian Arowana Ban Being Removed in the US?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was at Petco a couple weeks ago talking to the fish guy and a guy came in and bought a Silver Aro. I started talking to him and I asked him if he had any other aro's and he said he had a couple silvers, Jardini, Asian:eek:. when I asked him how me managed that he said if you know who to go through and have enough money you can get pretty much anything you want, he then turned around and walked away leaving me thinking :bs: So what do you think the chances are that this guy actually has one?

He is right that if you know the right people and have enough money, you can find them here in the states. However, like Anne said, if he keeps running his mouth off, he may not have any fish before long. The problem with having one of them illegally in the states is that you can't be comfortable showing them to anyone cuz you never know who is gonna turn you in. Otherwise, I'd probably have one now as the wife and I both love them.

there was a story in the newspaper a few years back about a guy who got caught smuggling dozens of asian aros south. wish i could recall more specifics, but im thinking the gov had em valued at something like 40k each.

heh, musta been stashed in shampoo bottles.

Its a shame they are not allowed in the US!:screwy: they should Just allow captive bread ones. just came back from a lfs that had rows and rows of asain aros starting at $250.00 to 2,000.00!!! Canadian,:screwy: nice fish but a little to much for my taste!!! I like my aussie aro more but thats just me!!!!!!

I agree. People in the US who have an Asian arowana and brag about it tend to have guys in gov't uniforms show up.

In regards to the 'proper' race track....I can say first hand it is a physical activity. Though the US doesn't have many tracks with corners, those I have been lucky enough to get my car on have worn me out.
