Asian Arowana Petition

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I refuse to sign this petition. I believe the whole point in the creation of asian arowana breeding farms was to eventually bring them back into the wild. But that never happened. I also hope that they continue to be illegal in the US. It is selfish IMO to want to keep snakeheads in the US. It suggests that you have absolutely no regard for the environment, cause and effect, and care only about yourself.

I don't think the whole point in the creation of Asian arowana breeding farms was to eventually bring them back into the wild. No, I won't agree with that.

It is so that people can keep and trade in Asian arowanas without disturbing the wild pool. That is the reason why with the successful breeding of Asian arowanas in registered farms, Cites went easy on the 'endangered species' list. It was once known that Asian arowanas couldn't be bred in captivity, thus people exploiting the wild pool and that led to Asian arowanas be put on the endangered list by Cites.

But some Asian countries with multiple experiments and research did show that breeding in captivity can be done successfully, and now it is a different story. So consumers and hobbyists like you and me can benefit.

Wow! Lets just ban every spriest of pet that is non native. then all native species will become endangered from over collecting. Ill bet you signed the Lacy act!

this thread got moved back to the arowana section... gee thanks...

It is fixed. Another mod was just doing his job and moved it to the proper forum. These things happen, but they are easily fixed.

Signed. Might as well try. Only takes a few minutes.

Also try posting on other forums.
