Asian red tail cat a monster?

Welcome back to the hobby, mate!

First off, I'd propose a good pic or two would make sure we are not wasting our time and effort here. ID is important.

Hemibagrus are generally quite nasty to tank mates, esp. wyckii and wyckioides, in "minimal" sized tanks.

Wyckii are more common and there is a good amount of info on them. Wyckioides (true ARTC) appear to be very, very poorly known in the hobby. I've seen only evidence of adult fish from 1-2 hobbyists and none of those appear on MFK. Anyone? I don't recall seeing / reading about more than several grown-up juvies / sub adults.

Thus it would appear that not only true ARTC are rarely offered in the trade but that they are hard to raise to any kind of considerable size.

Through the years on MFK, I've seen several "Hey guys I've got a true ARTC! Look at my cute 5" guy!", which are the last, more or less, informative posts in the thread.

We as a community here are doing a pretty poor job, TBH, an astoundingly poor job of informing and educating ourselves. The info is scattered, A reading-worthy follow-through is rare. An account of a significant time in the keeping of any given fish (like a few years at least) is ~ nowhere to find. Exceedingly rare...

Anyhoo... both fish are prime contenders for the most aggressive (territorially) f/w fish in the world.

Going on adult size you would need a tropical pond but maybe they dont grow to thier max size in cativity? I dont know? If it was me id start of in something like an 8'x 3' tank. Id try myself with tinfoil barbs or similar. some sort of dither fish.
