hey all, thanks for the plugs!-) my wyckii is right around 20' now nose to tail and is still pretty evil, although he is obviously sedate compared to some. As off late we are going through a rough patch and he has done some serious fin damage to my 12 inch suncat, think I'm gonna need too make a decision myself soon for the good of the other fish possibly rehome them.... some days a want him gone, others I'm smitten with him/her.
cant imagine the damage he will cause to any cichlid once he has an sl around 28 inch if he gets that far, total length then would be what 32-34 inch? aggressive fish that stand there ground need to be in the tank if your even considering a com and you will not have a peaceful tank so dont expect that, at night they terrorise everything and they will cause bad damage if they arnt killing in all regular sized tanks.
so far he has killed a number of smaller tankmates, at 20 inch I can get away with fish over 5-6 inch, he doesn't eat fish above this size, he has eaten many smaller fish. so if we add another 50% to his length I would assume no fish under 10-12 inch will be safe from being a meal let alone the damage, I quite often wonder how he would do with a big dovii tankmate, could go bloodbath or begrudging truce?
imo rtg wont work unless its much much larger to start with, esp if artc are worse, my wyckii has been commed all its life, no good trying to add fish later on imo. I had an banja red at 14' a few months back and they had no issues moved the aro on because he was more aggressive to the other fish than the wyckii. Also I cant do any bottom dwellers, aimara will end up dead or the hemi will.
