I recently got a rtc from my lps. It was labeled as a rtc but the man didnt know anything about him or how big he would get. I googled him but every picture i see is rtc with white stripes down the side and mine is just a black cat with a lightly tinted red tail. Does anyone know if his is a asain rtc or a different one?

Welcome to MFK!

It sounds like you can be right but a photo would be better than words. When you post reply go to the Upload file next to it.

I had his maybe 3 inches and i had him in a 10 gallon tank but he ate a fish and torn my oranda tail to pieces so now his being relocated to my 58 gallon tank with my baby oscars.

Have you checked planet catfish great resource! Ive heard they're animals 3ft max aggressive but I've never owned one so...
I'd say it is just off those pics. The red tail will get real nice looking

This fish is from a Hemibagrus genus is all I can see. May be ARTC. Please read up on it - you've bought a fair contender for the title of the world's most aggressive fresh water fish - http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=19

The red usually starts coming through a bit by ~4"-5" but you said it's already showing red. If so, chances are this is indeed an Asian RTC = Hemibagrus wyckioides.

His a agressive little thing. I have two 4 inch Oscar that i had to put him in the tank with. Now i have to keep a eye on him in my Oscar tank because he started being aggressive with them. I would love to keep him because his beautiful but I dont have a 3rd tank and I care to much about the Oscars to have them hurt. I am taking him back tomorrow and telling my LPS about him and how long they get since they had no information about him.
