Ive seen all kinds of fish at my local Asian markets. Once I saw large mouth bass being sold as "see bass" and yes it was spelled that way. I dont know if they were trying to sell them as more expensive sea bass and just misspelled it or if they called them "see bass" to make people think they were sea bass and did it to be tricky but not get in trouble...

Once I even so a GIANT royal pleco! I would have bought it if it wasnt half dead.

here in asia many places you can get them live.
just tell them not to kill it.
we get swamp eels and some anguillia species.
 
I even see Barramundi in the markets yet I've never seen them in any pet stores here.One day I'll rescue one of them.
 
Show them your ccw, or your backup ccw, and take your fish and move on.
 
someone just had some american eels listed in the classifieds. I'm sure it got closed, but I'll try yo find it. Some type of anguillia species.
