I’ve dealt and brought from him. No issues and others, i know, have bought from him.
Sounds like the oscars I'd see in the 1970s. Didn't keep them myself (I had fish in the 60s, but not in the 70s) and not certain of species; whatever they were they'd kill anything else in the tank-- but a lot of people were also naive about tank size then. These guys are nothing like the tank raised oscars we're all used to. I had an orbicularis (similar to the crass) he was a complete psychopath.DMD123 went through something Similar.

as he matured he developed these really striking yellow band. look great against the black base color.
if memory server me right I had just added him back to the tank after a week or so of getting a time out. The peace lasted for a couple of days. Im pretty sure a couple of weeks later I gave him to another member.
long vid but you'll noticed the hrp and metae learned to never wander too far away from the DW lol
Funny how a scary tank boss can make other fish buddy up sometimes.Beautiful fish. I had mine in a decent sized tank (150) and he completely claimed the entire tank. Not one fish was left alone...plecos, cats, other cichlids were beaten on. From day one he would go nuts and glass bang if anyone walked by the tank. Lol just thinking about how crazy he was makes me chuckle. Gonna dig up some old vids
Thats quite the fish keeping career i bet you've forgotten more than most of know. LolFunny how a scary tank boss can make other fish buddy up sometimes.
I had fish as a kid in the 60s, had friends with fish in the 70s, then moved to Colorado and lost touch with the hobby until I moved to New England in the late 80s. For a while I was surprised at people keeping Oscars with other fish, I didn't think it was possible. Like I say, don't know which species, but those I'd seen earlier sure weren't like the puppy dog Oscars of today.
Haha, they all hide. Boss is coming!
I really like the white edges on his fins. Very striking.
Im no expert man. Only going by this one fish and what dmd experienced. Take my opinion with a grain of saltMan...really have wanted one of these for a while but my 135 tank size along with the potential aggression on these do not sound like it would be a good mix with guianacaras so i'm going to have to pass
