So I was talking to my dad the a few nights ago and he told me a story about this guy he knows.

There is this guy who owns some sort of supply store (forgot what it was). In the center of his store he has a big bearded dragon cage with a full grown beardie. The cage has everything he needs, food, stuff to climbon, proper lighting (heat lamp/uvb..) and its in a large cage..not some tiny tank. Well apparently this lady kept coming into the store (not to buy anything) to complain to the owner that it was cruel that he kept his bearded dragon in a cage. The guy didn't want to get rid of it so the lady just kept coming in and complaining to him. He finally got annoyed and called fish and wildlife or w/e and they came out and inspected his cage and put a sticker on his cage saying it was large enough and had all the proper things to care for the animal, they even wrote a long report on the animal and how well kept it was. Well the lady came back and was still unsatisfied and kept complaining day after day to him (literally sounds like she just came in to harass him about it) and thats the only reason she ever came into the store. Finally he got so fed up he gave the cage and bearded dragon away to a friend of his who keeps reptiles because this stupid lady wouldn't leave him alone.... turns out shes from PETA.... what a big fat B. This guy gave his beardie more then enough space and she literally wouldnt leave him alone untill he got rid of it. I think thats terrible - esp. because that guy really liked his animal but he couldnt take her anymore. I personally would have called the cops and had her banned from my store for harassing me over it and not buying anything (if thats possible?). I almost want to donate my spare 55 gal to him put something in it, of course something that would be properly housed in a 55 for life and set it up there and just wait for her to come in a rip her a new one. These people are busy worrying about stupid things like a well taken care of animal instead of using her time volunteering at an institute where she could help rehabilitate animals and release them or something.

No offense but get something better to do thats is just getting to retarded.

55 wouldn't have been big enough for a full grown beardie...,.

But yea. That is PETA for you. No matter that the Beardie is healthier in that setup then in the wild, no matter that a Bearded Dragons life expectancy has doubled since we started keeping them in captivity...

you would think PETA had bigger problems to worry about. i think someone mentioned illegal japanese whaling that they dont have the stones to touch.

it makes me sad that the guy had to give his prized beardie away before the woman would get lost. i would have banned her like you say but i wouldnt have called the cops, if they are anything like here harrassment (by a woman to a man especially) is considered a joke.
street justice is far more suitable for people like that.

Story sounds fishy to me. A privately owned business can refuse service to any one for any reason. If he asked the lady to never come back again he could have had her arrested for tresspassing and probably of few other things too. Seems alot easier then getting rid of a well cared about pet.

I am kind of sad I live in a conservative area filled with logical thinking people. Id love to go to a PETA, Anti-war/military, Anti-gun, Pro Hamas rally and mke a mockery of the event. Sadly these types of people either A: dont exist around here or B: too smart to display their views in public!

It was not a 55 he was in, he was kept in a huge cage. I was saying I want to put something else in a 55 that would fit in there for life and put it in his store and wait for her.

As for him I am not really sure if he did tell her to get out or not and she came back anyways, dad didnt really say. He did go through the trouble to get his tank checked out so she would leave him alone so my guess is he probably didnt want to call the cops on her or anything. I just think its stupid for her to do that in the first place. He couldnt refuse to sell her anything because she never tried to buy anything. I dunno but yeah there are more important things they could focus their attention on.

That really sucks that he got fed up with her and gave the beardie away. I would have just told the lady that she is forbidden to come into the store. These people need to get a life, seriously.

My bad! Just reread your post, I must have skimmed it before...Thought you were saying you wanted to give him your 55 for his beardie!

Lol, give him the 55, and put an Anole in it! See what she says then!

Sorry if i'm wrong, but it sounds questionable that fish and wildlife would come out to inspect a cage, and put a sticker on it saying its big enough? Since when did they start checking up on people who buy pets? And who is to say they even know about exotics? Again sorry if i am off, maybe someone can fill me in but this just sounds far fetched....

Its your opinion...but i doubt every pro-gun activist is a "logical thinking" person and could be compared to a PETA activist. Activism is activism and when its a passionate issue, things get crazy.

And that is when people get giant fishhooks rammed through their cheek...

I honestly wouldn't have given up the bearded dragon. The moment some crazy PETA lady starts messing with my animals, it is ON.
