Hey marcus, good to hear your female is doing good, hope to see an update video of her soon.thanks aquanero, and thanks for the tip about the peat. My male is a very angry fish so it's going to be awhile before I really trust them without the divider.

In your experience where do these guys max out at in size? My male is about 15" and thick, still growing , what's the largest you've seen?

Largest I've heard of is 16 inches but I'm sure if u kept him long enough 17 inches isn't out of order... I've had a ~16 inch xingu 1 pike he wasn't done growing yet and was fed lightly ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1427640614.647007.jpg he was huge he looked 17 inches but measured came out to be only a tad under 16 was thicker than a coke can

Read previous threads and some people said they maxed out at 12 inches lol 😂😂😂

Turns out my new pike is a male.damn.but I have a question, picked up some granulated peat..I also run purigen in my canister filter, I know the purigen Wil absorb the tea color from the peat, but will it also negate the pH effects that peat has on the water?

Nice male. And a answer to your question I would say maybe. Purigen is a great form of media for any tank however it will clear up all your tannins so if your using the wood to lower your PH I would maybe stop the purigen. RO water to me is the best because the PH is coming out Low and you can use the bogwood to help soften the water and provide their natural black water as far as looks. If this makes sense
