ATF/Dorado/Goonch/Datnoid PICS!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
1 of these days i'll get a feeding video up.... recently i made a dat purchase, and its turned into a problem cause he is so small, so i have to keep the tank very well fed to try and avoid him being eaten.... but after he's big enough i'll starve for a few days and get everyone hungry then do a feeding vid! :)
Guess i never posted my actual stock and sizes so here goes:
400 gallon:
Atlantic Tarpon 15-16 inches
Gold Dorado 14 inches
3 GATF's all between 12-14 inches
Armatus 12-13 inches
VATF 12-13 inches
3 IT dats 4, 7, 10 inches
1 NGT Dat 5-6 inches
1 AT Dat 4-5 inches
6 NTT Dats ranging from 4-8 inches, and one baby 3 incher

220 Gallon
2 Goonch catfish, prob about 18-20, and 20-22 inches

2 bambusa's/chinese baracuda's will be here this week from Wes, super excited, but a little concerned cause they are a very thin fish and shaped like a silverside, hopefully nobody harms them

would also like to get my hands on some chinese perch, maybe a nile perch, and eventually an ST dat, and maybe a leopoldi sting ray, but these are down the road a ways.....

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Holy heck bambusas! I'm really looking forward to seeing them in the tank, I've wondered about how they'd do with ATF. They apparently grow shockingly fast.

That's gonna be awesome man, the only Cyprinid with teeth. Chinese tigerfish. Very impressive.

I like your idea of putting the dats in the 220 and putting the goonches back in the big tank.

JEEZ! We've got identicle minds! That's my dream stock. i've also wanted a bambusa in a pond but i'm afraid it'll freeze.

i've def been thinking about moving the dats.... and in my experience continually moving and changing decor actually makes dats more outgoing and increases the chances of them taking pellets.... they have certainly been my most difficult kind of fish to keep, especially the NTT's.... many of them still continue to hide and are only stable when they are eating.... i may leave the big IT in the 400 and move the other 10 dats over to the 220, but then i want to convert the 220 to sand, which is annoying so maybe in time.... i'm also worried as to what goonch may go for if he doesnt have fresh datnoid to eat, dont want to see my ATF's dissapear!

You really think he's big enough to choke down an ATF already?

if you saw the size of the dat he ate, and the 8 inch and thick golby, you'd be nervous too! the datnoid was way wider than his mouth and he still choked him down .... i'd say probably not, but i'm def nervous... i'd also say they'd never catch the tiger, but seeing these goonches feed and how fast they can move .... it just makes me nervous
