well, i think i've decided to move most of my datnoids up to my 220 and move the 2 goonches back down to the 400 .... getting a little nervous about how aggressive the goonches are getting towards eachother, and i think the dats need a change, a few are acting strange, not eating a lot etc, so hopefully the move makes them more comfortable .... thinking this weekend i'm going to get this rolling .... also gonna make the 220 sand and do a lot of redecorating in both tanks to make them more suitable for their inhabitants.... should be a fun weekend :D

Little Update since the tank switches .... Goonch attacked my Armatus about 5 days ago. I didnt see it, but the evidense is undeniable. I was nervous that the Armatus would die, but he is healing nicely and eating lots still ... hopefully his scars go away, since before this incident he was in flawless condition, not a scratch on him .... seems the goonch snapped at him from the side, bottom teeth scraping vampire near his pectoral fin, and his upper jaw getting a good hold of the vampires forehead. This scared me because the Armatus is about 14 inches, and the goonch was measured at 24 inches, and all my other fish aside from the tarpon and dat, are the same size or smaller than the Armatus thus they can suffer the same injuries, although the tigers are a bit more armor plated .... will have to keep a close eye and keep my fingers crossed

The 220 now houses all my other dats and my remaining bambusa .... Unfortunately my friends tank was not as safe as i'd hoped and his african lungfish ate the other bambusa .... kinda sucked, but this one is doing great ... datnoids are taking a while to adjust and get back to normal in the 220, but they are coming around. Going to really push pellet training for them, i'd love nothing more than to get my, NGT especially, grown and in the big tank

My Goliaths, one in particular, are really getting a lot of yellow behind the eyes and on the fins, kinda neat .... almost like they are getting Dorado-ish

Anyway thanks all, and enjoy the pics

Looking good man! :D

Those GATF are getting some really nice colors on 'em. Very pretty! It's plainly obvious they're very healthy.

Sucks what the goonch did to the army. I hope he heals up. He's still very nice looking!

Could you post up some recent pics of the Dorado? I'm considering one in the future once Max is bigger and would like to see yours. He has really nice color, too.

I'd like to see if yours is franciscanus or brasiliensis.

edit:

Oh and a bambusa? Screw you! ;) :p

Thanks Chicx, big nasty goonch is really making me nervous, but at this point I'm committed to keeping everyone where they are .... There's no going back now! Its tough, cause I want to feed the goonches less, but having that big goonch hungry is very dangerous, but feeding him a lot will have him growing so fast and eating everyone! The only positive is every inch the other fish grow, the goonches have to grow 2 inches to stay big enough to eat them, so hopefully the other guys hit a little growth spurt from the tank being virtually wide open now .... I've got to get a video of the goonches when they go on the hunt for pellets around the tank, sand flying, those big pieces of wood he knocks over like their nothing if there's a pellet under them, truly amazing!

I also am just amazed by how fast the IT Datnoid is growing .... all my other dats seem to be in stasis, but this guy is just getting huge! To think when I got him a year and a half ago he was the size of a quarter and spent his first few months of life completely hiding sideways under a piece of slate because another larger dat was beating him up .... and now he is truly a king, and hides from nothing!

I'll get more pics of Dorado tonight, but I'm sure he's not that big headed Argentinian variety, and I'll try and get a couple pics of the cats when their out in the open so you can see the rediculous size of these things! Thanks again for the kind words man

Ridiculously good looking. Not a characin fan but you have some of the best fish on MFK!
Excuse the silly question, since I know nothing about them, but is it normal for your atfs to be so high-backed? Most I've seem were rather pencil-shaped. Does it depend on the species?

It comes with size. ATF get very thick when they get larger.
