ATF/Dorado/Goonch/Datnoid PICS!!

Must say, the Armatus healed up very nicely, so I'm very happy! .... only problem is he seems hell bent on never getting beat up again! I saw him go after my Dorado, then my ATF's, not biting, just defending a territory, which is the most non-goonch related aggression I've seen .... he was in the middle of shedding his teeth, which I'm sure played a part in it, and to be fair, I'm glad he's showing a little anger .... he's been my easiest fish scary enough, only eats pellets, doesn't freak and smash into things, etc, so I'm glad he got a little tougher
On another note, my biggest Goliath has hit a little growth spurt and now I think is officially bigger than my Dorado, hopefully he doesn't remember Dorado chasing him back in the day, and isnt looking for vengeance! Been feeding cut up salmon, tilapia, and cod, and he is just sucking them down, along with massivore

Made a bold move and am going to be traveling this weekend to pick up a couple Hystrix rays .... DB is gonna be so proud of me! 
It'll be my first experience with rays so I'm pretty excited .... hopefully they play nice with the goonches!

You're going to be the one excited! Rays are the only reason I'm still here. IF it wasn't for them I would have sold off everything and bailed from the hobby after the 3rd batch of Armatus several years back. You'll soon see why I think it's silly to have any freshwater tanks set up without rays.
Male/female pair? You NEED to take your camera with when you go to Jim's!!! Make sure you OK it with him, but I'd love to see what's in that man's tanks. I bet he's got one of the nicest collection of rays on this board.
Little worried about housing them with Goonch though.... Not for the sake of the adult rays or the Goonch, but IF they have pups it could be disaster.
They might not have fancy big teeth you can see, but their personality and intelligence more then makes up for it. Plus they could pay for themselves in less then a year if they start breeding, maybe even pay for all your other fish within the next couple....
I agree 100% DB, I am VERY excited .... I've always loved classic Leo's and Hystrix, but I've rarely seen Hystrix available near me, and Leo's are out of my price range, but 1 day I will .... I guess I just got so involved in my other fish, I never felt like I NEEDED a ray, but now that my big tank is wide open and the fish are doing very well, and this opportunity appeared I couldn't pass it up .... I figure any open uncluttered tank can house a ray because they occupy a niche that doesn't interfere with other fish (excluding catfish) so I agree, every tank should have a ray! There is a slight problem, in that my fiance's birthday is in a week, and I kinda spent what I was saving for her present, so I figure I'll let her name one of the rays and we'll be all good! Right? Lol!

Ohhh and yes 1 male and 1 female is what I'm getting! Sorry, forgot to include that ..... and the possibility of pups is very exciting as well

A few updated pics with the sting rays .... goonches and rays are certainly getting to know eachother to say the least, lot of contact, but not fighting .... the goonches seem to be more active as well with the ray addition ... it is very scary when the cats come out and the rays have a pellet on top of them, i always cringe because the goonches come over and attack so fast, but have yet to bite the ray, just scare the crap out of them, but no ill effects have been suffered'
Also i was wondering if maybe a dog got into my basement and pooped in the tank, but then i realized it was the ray! YUCK!! ray poop is no joke! lol

Thanks guys .... judging from what's been happening the goonches are way too quick and powerful for the rays, they push the rays out of their corner and when its feeding time and the goonches come near the rays retreat, but they seem fine with it ... they just cruise around doing their thing avoiding the goonches when they are in eat anything mode .... I don't want to say the rays are afraid, they just stand clear when goonch frenzy begins, kind of like fireworks, safe from a distance but get too close and lookout!
