I agree, and I'd like to hear more about what you consider a specialized setup for these guys... they look almost like mini whites,

I think some ideas would help the OP as well, perhaps even some suggestions for the size he suggested. Smoothhounds pop into my head.

As for seriously thinking of keeping Atlantic Sharpies - Mattiej, is definitely the guy to talk to. Like I said in an earlier post - He was successful in keeping these sharks for 4 years. The reason why he lost them - is because he went on vacation - and the person he had taking care of his tank - ended up screwing up his shark lagoon - killing all it's inhabitants.

Huh? mini whites? - I don't think so. To me Sharpies tend to look more like mini-blue sharks - only with shorter pectorial fins and more grayish in coloration. But they are definitely very interesting little sharks.

But looking at some of his older posts on SRC - he states that part of the key to keeping sharpies has to with how they're caught and transported.
Great care has to be taken with the capture and transporting of these sharks. He uses a 250 gallon oval tank with filtration and air to transport sharpie & bonnet pups in. And uses a 15ft diameter pool as the QT for young sharpies to acclimate in - before moving them to the larger shark lagoon.
