thats good info and really the water smelled like piss that bad?

They have to increase their urine output tenfold to keep the water in their bodys from making them swell up like baloons. Freshwater is more saline than their body fluids are, so they have to put out more water to compensate.

So has anyone had success keeping D. Sabina in freshwater? If so, list tank size, water change schedule, etc.

i believe nick at ne-cichlids held some for a long long time in full fresh

Yes, if an auto water-changer would relieve the horrible piss smell, could these things be kept in similar conditions as a potamotrygon species? Possibly co-exist?

Just curious.

everyone who has bought one, seems to lose them from not being able to keep up the water changes.

poor investment, buy a freshwter ray

It's amazing how well they do in their native habitat, a Marine Tank.

never considered a tank.....a native habitat, interesting view

I believe the fascinating thing about this particular ray is the evolutionary history of its adaptation; that isn't demonstrated in a marine tank. :D

Is it true that they don't thrive in fresh water?
