I take it that there are VERY few tankmates that would be suitable to keep with this fish?
Which sp. of Dovii do you have? Do the males generally get larger than the females, and do the males tend to have better coloration?

First there is only one kind of Dovii and mine just happens to be a one that has great genetics. Second males grow twice the size of the females, they usually top out at around 12". Also Males are much more colorful then the females with the vibrant blues and the spangling. And last you will be extremly lucky if you can get these guys to live in a community with other fish in anything less then 400Gallons......

I know my Jardini is at another level then any cichlid when it comes to all out fighting. After that day i've gained tons of respect for what a Jar's capable of bringing to the table during crunch time. And no i'll never try it again, thay are both great specimens and not worth risking injury to one another or possible death.

Hmm, I learn something new every day...I would have never thought a large Jardini could take on a large male dovii.... i've heard Jards are aggressive, but :WHOA:

...did this occur when putting the dovii in the Jard's tank or the Jard in the dovii's tank?

Awesome fish you got there REC:headbang2

There are two color morphs: Golden (Costa Rican) and Blue (Nicaraugan).
Here is the difference between the two (not mine), Costa Rican on the left:
