I do wc's twice a week and my water parameters are up to par. Just my nitrate levels reach to about 40ppm before I do the next scheduled wc. Would it be better if I do wc's every 2nd day? Would it help the gill curl situation?

I try to keep my nitrates around 20-40. I have no problems at this level. IMO you're fine, but talk to someone who has cured gill curl with just water quality alone.
