BTW, just joined the group. My 6 Y/O is named Austin. He is named after an Aston Martin I saw in James Bond when I was a kid but grew up my whole life pronouncing it Austin. Picked the name for my son when I was a kid years before he was born and stuck with it. My 11 Y/O is named Dallas. Neither my wife or I are from Texas, he is actually my stepson and my son is her stepson. Just pure chance.

I would go with Harley if we had another boy, Navy if we had a girl. (last name is Seals so I think Navy Seals would be a cool name for a tough Irish girlie) The wife would say hell no but I could talk her into it. :D
ahahhahahhahahha

my father in law works with first nations people and he knew a dude whos last name was rabbit and you guessed it he called his kids bunny and jack :ROFL:

Just joined .. Last name is Button. I told my wife if we had a girl we would name here Belle Elizabeth. Belle E. Button... She didnt find the humor in it...

I also liked William Robert ... then she stopped one day and said .. No you want to call him Billy Bob ... Lost that war.. I did win on one those Ryan Owen ... His intials spell Rob

thanks to everyone that is helping to make this group grow! feel free to join or if you are already a member, post some pics or share some moments/memories of your kids and fish...... or even just special moments you are having being a parent

I just wanted to drop a thought in the thread for all dad's to consider.

Personally my wife and I have been married for 13 years after a 10 month engagement. We have 7 kids and 1 coming in a bit.

Now here is the thought.

Say perhaps you are being led down the wrong path by a temptation that comes your way. Look at your wedding ring and consider it to be your green lantern ring that creates a big hammer that smashes that big bad thought to bits.

Then remember that the grass only seems greener till you go over that fence and find out that not only is it fake turf, the cows on that side of the fence have been trying to fertilize it and cow patties do not make goood shoes.

There have been a few times that certain situations tried to present themselves to me. For example I was at a food competition where a lady tried to get some food from me for free and she said this "Ah come on I put out!" To which her friends laughed and giggled and got this funny look. To which I looked at my staff member that was with me, smiled and said this to her as I held up my left hand which has a ring that only one ring on earth matches.

"Well I can think of 8 good reasons why that does not interest me, 7 of them range in age from 12 down and the 8th wears the matching ring to this!"

The way I look at being a dad is this, my father was horrible a drunk who dragged my mother down the main street of smiths falls ontario when she was 6 mths pregnant with me. To which she spent the last 3 months of pregnancy in a hospital in regina to make sure I came into being. I vowed that I would be the very best husband/dad that I could possibly be.

I think the greatest asset that a husband/dad has is 3 fold 1-HEART 2-EARS 3-EYES

Real men/dad's are not afraid to be totally transparent with their spouse/kids. There is nothing more rewarding to me than to see the look of being appreciated on the face of my wife an kids. And most of all my family is not a government money program that does not need to be repaid SO I DON'T TAKE THEM FOR GRANTED!!!!

Just wanted to share a bit of my heart as a husband/dad in this thread.

I should have some kid pictures coming along shortly

Here is gaddiella's first ever experience with a 7/11 slurpee, we don't really drink them except maybe 2 times per year.

first this is the after effect

IMGP4947.jpg

it put her straight away to sleep less than 15 minutes after she valiantly tried to drink the whole thing

now here she is working that slurpee

I will be joining since there I set my kid up for a long life of fishkeeping even before he was born. I custom designed my tank and installed it in the wall that divides my living room and his room. That's right I have a 280 gallon tank which serves a a viewing window into his room! When he was a baby we would look through the tank to check on him while he was sleeping. He is 2 and a half years old now and has to say goodnight to the fish before he goes to bed each night. I recently switched from salt water to fresh with stingrays so no pics yet since the conversion.

There was one HUGE downside to doing this...it seems he always watched the fish everynight until he fell asleep and now when we go out of town he has trouble sleeping. I feel his pain I miss the fish when we are away also.
