---Attention p14 owners--- heavy breathing??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its rely hard to say wht the problem might be. it seems that us ray keepers are always having these little episodes here and there with no proof of what the problem is or was....it could be one thing, or it could be multiple things contributing to the rays stress. IMO if its not obvious wht the problem is like filters, ph, water quality, etc when in doubt prazi. it dosnt hurt anything and could be an easy solution to a parasite problem

breathing out of one side, and coughing leads me to some type of gill parasite. i did have an episode like this and here is the little bugger i found. prazi cleared it right up

heres an old thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...-Parasite-in-Leo-hen-tank-Help-Quick!!!/page2

These rays have been going from S/W to F/W for 10,000 years...4 lbs per 100 g..they LOVE it... I didn't mention, but I had planaria in the tank at the time...and the WC rays had some kind of little white specs I couldn't tell if it was Planaria or lice...but they were stressed over it and the salt took care of it all 100%... They were not eating and breathing heavily...I had Prazi on order, but by the time I got it, I never used it.

Just my experience.

Did a 50% water change and treated with prazi.
Male
Did eat 1-2 1/4" pieces of
Worm, but don't seem right. Normally he would pound food.

i find that parasites don't have to com from fish i haven't added fish but my p14 show signs of gill parasites may com from live food or I'n the water and it's only my p14 that will act up my bds and motoros will be fine. Sound crazy but i no i am correct with my theory from my experience with this problem. 4 days of treatment and he will come right around ull see

i treated, i dont EVER feed live except nightcrawlers. I sure hope all is good.

Water change is my suggestion. And see what happens after that.

I did large waterchanges for a week and kept them alone with no tank mates and seemed to get worse. So now i am moving on to see if prazi could help. It can be used as preventive so it cant hurt.

i tried lots of salt temp supper high wormx but nothing work then i used tremazol and the rays looked better after 24 hours

i have been looking at your thread, it looks like 4 days and you said back to normal again. i sure hope this is the case with mine... THey were breathing better this morning, i think. the male did eat a small piece of crawler again. the female gorged. Lets hope that by Saturday the male is back 100% again.
