GUYS GUYS!!
lets not underestimate the power of rapps now... jeff is the reason alot of us have the rare cichla we see today more commanly then we did before. hell tell you guys the truth before i found you guys here in MFK i though life was just mono, ocell , tem and the rarest cichla in the world would be orino's... but now its like orinos and everything below it are cake to get.. and kelberi and azul are the challenge. I think rapp's fish are kelberi maybe stressed or in shock of being imported from S.A to our tanks the conditions must be terrifiying for them to adjust too after what 4-6months in there home waters. We bring them into much diffrent tanks with diffrent fish they have never been in contact before(unless its a lone fish)...Its like throwing bill gates into the Mojave desert.. i say we wait a couple months give them time too bloom and maybe they will show there inner kelberi. =]

Very interesting. I would also agree that this is not a Kelberi.

Maybe Cichla nigromaculata

That is a very interesting thought to entertain. The resemblance is definitely there. I noticed yesterday after I took mine out to measure him that he has a 4th bar under stress. Its way up front, actually on top of the head, just behind the eyes. Also, its is developing short faint bars in between the 3 large bold bars. Im excited to see where it goes :naughty:

i am going to love this thread,

unfortunantly i was on MFK to late to even have a chance at these cichla so you who did get one are very very lucky...

(if u ever feel like selling it gimmie a halla ill buy fosure............ you didnt hear that from me)
I dont know if someone already replied by now but someone in Cali was just selling one, check the b/s section.

I bought 3 small flowerhorns at LFT aloha few days ago with $30 each bargain price, thinking FH will stimulate my pbass to swim around instead of gathering at one spot.
WRONG, look at them now. all my pbass were tranced to one side of the tank plus one of them laid tons of eggs this afternoon. Are you kidding me? Are they precocious? I have never heard or seen FH at this size can lay eggs? Maybe they are not flowerhorn.
