Wow that's a killer set-up and the AUL's are truly sweet!
I've always wanted a AUL, love the fins and those big bony scales truly prehistoric looking. My dream tank would definitely include one of these guys.

I have two filtration systems:
one close loop filtration:
reverse overflow in far left corner of tank bottom drained to first 1/15hp wave pump --> Ultima 4000 --> return to tank.
one open loop filtration:
where 3 x 1-1/2 bulkheads drained water to external overflow box into 3 x filtersocks, then into sump --> second 1/15hp wave pump--> return to tank.
I have 2 sets of washing machine washable filtersocks.
The idea of using filtersocks from joeyR1 really made my life easy.
Every 3 days I replace clean set of filtersocks and put dirty ones in washing machine. 45 min later they are clean like new to be used again.
Sump is divided into 5 chambers: bioballs--> Matala filter pads --> K1 kalness ( moving )--> another K1 kalness (stationary)---> water reservoir.
Each chamber is capped from inside and can be drained individually.

I like the K1 idea. My old AUL is looking bulky! 
This tank is in my top 10 of the best tanks I've seen of all time. Never thought I would see a tank like this.
