auratus fry or no fry?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i actually lost a fry or two from being stupid. i poured the fry from one container into another container that i taped onto my fish tank. the water flow from the pouring pushed one of my fry out through a hole that i made for circulation in my second container and one of my fish came and snatched him. another fry could have been lost from me hand cupping it and dropping it into the container. not sure if it fell into the container or into the tank.
but i have 15 alive from a 3 incher so i think im good.

Never heard that rule... Sure people tend to do 1 male to say 3-4 females... but 1 to 8??? not needed...

does the male have to regenerate its sperm.
auratus being harem fish means that the male will mate with multiple females right?

Feed them. Often (3-4 times a day). Just clean up what isn't eaten in a few minutes. (Well I tend to clean it up every day but it depends upon how much time you are willing to put in.)

As for the male being ready... don't worry about that he is likely ready for another stint right after he finishes with the last.

ok the fry are getting circulation and i think they are able to move themselves around to avoid fungus.
my question now is how long will it take for my female to regenerate her eggs so she can breed again? and the male to get his sperm back?
and will the male mate with my other female thats in the same tank?

It takes about 21 days for her to hold{breed}again..but i never let them breed with out giving them plenty of extra food to regain their strength.. the male will also mate with the other female as long as she is mature enough. the babies should have an airstone of a fine mist of bubbles.. too much is harmfull.. you need frozen baby brine shrimp and tiny blood worms for them when they no longer have the egg sack..i usually feed them through an eye dropper.. just squirt tiny bit into the water..good luck..
