i have owned various aussie natives and i love em, over the years i have kept,barra,saratoga,silver perch,sleepy cod,australian rainbows,empire gudgeons,salmontail,bullrout,and archer fish. my fav would have to be the bullrout he smashes anything that can fit in his mouth. but if you want a real aggresive fish get a sooty grunter!!

i have to disagree, yellow trumpeters are the this that kill. they are more aggressive then anything ive seen before. more than jardini, mangrove jacks, anycichlid. they are top s(*^

yellow trumpeters??? do you have a link , cant find them on the net. sootys are most aggresive in my book, compared to sizes of the jar and the jack, sootys are mean machines.

I'm pretty sure yellow trumpeters are the same as yellow tailed grunters.

Since you guys are all talking about Aussie fish in an international forum, dont you think some scientific names would be a good idea? Common names differ from state to state so it seems to be the sensible thing even on a local forum.....

oh the bartails, mmm havent seen a big one in action, but the ones at our shop arent aggresive at all.

yeh i noticed that in a large group they are alright, bt my yellow bartail killed about 5 fish. so i had enough and decided to use it as a feeder. and guess wat it had a go at my barras. then it made the fatal mistake. the sleepy cod lying on the bottomand as he went pass, he was gone.

yer a mate of mine got one the other day and the archer started beating it up, but then after bout 2 days the bartail was beating him up.
its still sootys in my opinion, cause we bout 4 5cm sootys in with three, 3 inch mouth almighty (Glossamia aprion), and the mouth almightys were dead by morning.

I had a couple of 3cm bartails that wiped out many of my natives (all of which were bigger than the bartails).
