Hey every one
Looks like i could be picking up a freshwater longtom in the next few days. Was wondering if anyones own oneor knows much about them tried looking up online and couldn't find much about owning them but alot to do with fishing for them. Any way if your wondering what they look like google them, because they're one mean looking monster.
Chris.

Very skittish initially, have a tendency to bang themselves up in tanks. Will settle down and can be pretty good. Am going to try and grab a few on sunday night (spotlight and net) for the pool. Good luck with it and make sure the tank is well covered, they are serious jumpers.

Thank mate, will do. I'm keen getting this one. Swaping my jet black jardini for it not sure if its worth it or not but oh well.

AAAGH I want that Jar.
Worth more than a S. kreftii
They grow big 80+ cm.
Caught a few never been game to transport one home.

I thought my jar would be worth more as i messaged to you if this swap falls through let me know what you have mate.

Oh snap so thats what you swapped shannon for!? Sheet, I know my mate is working on getting it off him, asked me if I was up for a drive to Sydney with the transport tank on the back. Anyway, going to try pick some up tonight so will let yall know if I get lucky. They don't seem to get any bigger than about 45cm in landlocked populations, we used to stock them in our dam on the farm. Marine specimens get much bigger. Not the easiest to transport and settle, hopefully the pool helps.

Given a large enough tank, how big could i expect mine to grow. And also i know there slow growers but how slow are they at growing

I wouldn't expect anything bigger than 40cm or so in a tank. Is it eating pellets or feeders only? Didn't get any last night, a few archers and big mouth almighties was all. Will take a few boats up next time as the longtom tend to hang out away from the banks at night.
