thought i'd say hi,

and tell you what i am keeping in my tank

i have 3 silver perch (australian natives) at 12-15 cm

and a Golden Perch (australian natives) at 16cm which is the most beatiful fish i have every had

hoping to keep this one for as long as posible and sell the silvers when they get to big for my tank

jeez. havent posted on this site for ages. sort of went off the hobby a bit in autumn.

anyway, im from newcastle, good to see at least one other novocastrian on this site. as for fish, i have a 160 litre mbuna tank, with electric yellows, melanochromis auratus, a cobalt blue and some electric blues thrown in which were only $10. i used to have (before the auratus) a beautiful 6" peacock cichlid but it died with no warning overnight. i also have a pond outside with a HUGE (not really) tandanus catfish, and the second biggest goldfish ive ever seen, as well as another 2 goldfish and 2 koi. i also have two 60 litre tanks in my room, one has guppies, platies and an axolotl who dines on fry, and the other tank has a festive cichlid who is the friendliest fish ive ever owned, yet he will eat guppy fry if i throw them in.

im in the (slow) process of turning my spare 80 litre tank into an asian themed planted tank, with co2, powerful lights, the works. thinking of revolving around a rtbs with some barbs. so far i got a multi stage internal filter, a diy light setup, and 7kg of seachem flourite red. i will probably need more substrate, but with no money (at all) its a bit hard.

ive had huge problems with black brush algae in the past, with both the 160 and 80 litre tanks getting the full vinegar and bleach treatment. next in line is the guppy tank, im hoping to get rid of it before it starts to take over the plants.

wow i blabber on and on and on, i could go all day. but with school tomorrow, (first day back) i aught to stop.

yeah man, painfully boring at times. Worst part was the 1,500 km's straight from Darwin to Mt Isa. There is VERY little to see in this great big land of ours. All that driving and all I saw was an echidna and countless dead roos and bulls.

BUMP 4 the Aussies!

G'DAY BOYS...
How are we...
i'm from Bulli (wollongong)
ive got 1 8x2x2 full of geo's
2 3x2x2 with 10 monoculus in 1 and 10 bocourti and 4 petina splendida (Red Morphs)
in the other....

I love this site... these sepo's don't know how good they've got it!!
Some of the stuff that they have at their fingertips is mind blowing...
although ,i must admit, that our scene is seeing more species becoming
available, thanks to those sneeky asians....god love em!

who would have thought even 5 years ago that stingrays would be as available as they are...or even all the new eartheaters that have flooded the markets of late...

yes it certainly is a good time to be an aussie MFK
