Good post Steve..

Well guys, lets do this :D

Like Steve said, express your interest here.
QLD members would more or likely attend the MFK meet at Underwater World, depending on when it is i dunno if i could make it down due to work...
Im taking ideas from any members in the Sydney area, where would you guys like to have a meet, maybe we can organize a BBQ a few drinks or what may have you especially with the great weather weve been having lately.. We just need to decide on a venue, who knows maybe the mods can organise a few decals and give aways on the day.. i mean these will be the first 2 ever meets in Australia :headbang2
I'm in for Sydney :D

The only problem I don't like with underworld is that it's main theme is salt water. they need more freshwater :( and they need some fresh water rays.

have you been to the aquariums in sydney? the manly one has only saltwater and the one in darling harbour has only freshwater natives. underwaterworld is probably the best public aquarium in australia for exotic freshwater fish. its the only place in australia ive seen pacus and pangasius, and there breeding rtbs in the labeo tank. i read a pdf the other day from underwaterworld to the department for the environment and heritage asking them to allow them to import silver arowana (although all through the pdf they called it silver arawana:screwy:), and they also stated that they intended to build a south american tank with 6' high viewing windows. it was 2 years old so i think they didn't get them but they are determined.

this is the pdf.

i haven't been there since last year but i remember them having a malawi tank, discus, gouramis, labeo sharks, a goldfish tank, an axolotl tank, killies, cave tetras, south american cichlids, a low water paludarium with giant gouramis, lungfish and archerfish, a mix of monster fish like pacu pangasius and tinfoil barbs, and a big native tank with a freshwater crocodile, freshwater sawfish and barramundi. and some others.

lol, yeah, there is freshwater, but not enough, if it were up to me, I'd replace the walk in tube thing (sharks) with Australian natives.
