australian eel tailed catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah if he could smell something, he wouldn't stop till he found it.. so floating food was fine.. sinking too was good. there pretty much a vacuum when it comes to food!

Lol too true! And a pretty active species of catfish, mines a little 9-10" wild caught, he moves around lots, eats from hand/fingers etc. Not fussy, can tolerate pretty poor water quality too.

do u need any hiding spots for them in the and do they dig up the subtrate, live plants or fake plants, can they hand cold and warm water temps

yeah, can handle colder waters ( in perth and odnt need a heater for em) i wouldnt put real plants in there with him.... they'll be floating shortly after. hiding spots.. well i spose they dont need em, but having one wouldnt hurt.. all round very friendly fish and yeah you can hand feed em which is cool.

Hi there,
i just got my first eel tail catfish today that ive been waiting for for about 3 weeks now and im so excited :D it is about 3 inchs long and i was wonder how fast it grows, is there a growth rate to it ?

@ rbeer4: welcome and congrats. Sorry, I've never kept it and never came across the growth info. I wonder if the OP ever got his Tandanus tandanus. If yes, he would know very well by now. But his last activity is from Dec 2008. I am afraid he might have given up on MFK.
