I got a wild pair of G. cf rhabdotus “Rincon” form Ken a few months back. They spawned for me about a month ago and I have the fry in a 20 L growing out. The pair bond between the two is pretty weak but once they laid eggs they were some of the best parents I have even seen. But like yours, my female now has a split tail fin. The male is pretty rough on her when they are not spawing. I have them in a 120 gallon with 5 F1 angels and 5 heckelli. They kept everyone at bay with their fry for about 2 weeks before I pulled them. The next spawn I am going to let them keep them for about 3-4 weeks to see how they do.

I can't wait for my Gymno. sp Yi to start spawning. I really liked those rhabdotus from Rincon. I wanted to get some myself but I bought so many of the sp. Yi I didn't have any more space at the time. I'm definitely thinking about adding another Gymno to the tank though and I'm definitely gonna go with a rhbadotus type.

How big are those little guys? Great color and patterns.
Thanks. The males about 3.5"TL, the female about 3", maybe a little smaller.

Eggs started hatching last night! Came home from work today and found the female guarding her little gathered pile of fry under the wood. Hopefully they take good enough care of them to get to freeswimming and then I can pull them. :nilly:

how big do these little guys get?? very beautiful fish btw..

I have 4 and the 2 dominant ones paired off and get along great. I have the pair in a 20gallon long with 5x 3" small pleco's and they never fish, maybe I just got lucky. They spawned for me the first time about a month ago and just spawned again a few days ago. My fry just hatched yesterday. Girlfriend left her camera on vacation or else I'd already have posted some pics. I wouldn't count on the red ceibals getting over 5" either.
