So correct me if I'm wrong but can't you just get rid of the bio balls since none of the water from the sump is going back into the main tank?

No, it is not like that. 99% water is going back to main tank. It take more than 4-5 hours to fill the red plastic container. During this time water will circulate 25 times.

Thank you.

I had used the same float switch like you, but in my case sometimes it works sometimes not - my the red plastic container is too small for that kind of float switch. That why I have to use a Vertical Float Switch.

Good work ! Thank you :)
Yeah, I like your vertical float switch. Mine got stuck several times too. The cord slipped and got stuck in the up postion and burned up a pump. Then another time it stuck in the down position and flooded the room. Luckily it is tile and slopes to a converted patio (just a big mop job).

nice set up but it seams you have a lot more stuff on it than whats needed

i have the same set up but its no were near as confusing

i just have a 3 stage filter like yours but 3 stage the water connects to the 3 stage which then goes straight to the tank

i then have a over flow on my sump no need for all the electric valves as if the power goes out then the water will continue to flow but be drained out of the sump over flow

very well thought out...i particularly like the solenoid that stops water flow when the power cuts out and the fact that you use both hot and cold water...as opposed to just cold water.

It's all about safety. It's like wearing a seat belt; you don't have to wear one to drive anywhere but when you need one, you'll be glad you had one on. Or sorry you didn't.
