Average Con?

I picked this dude up today... Had no intentions of buying anything, but he was in the "I don't want you anymore tank" @ $ 4.99 and I just couldn't leave him... He is all jacked, biten lip, scales are a little frazzled and his fins are torn.. but he has lots of potential!!.. plus I thought he was rather large about 6" head to end of tail fin.. and best of all he has a 'fun hump'..!!! I thought I was odd that his face is so flat, that my be normal.. I'm just not familiar...

Fill me in on what I don't know...

I am aware that he might not workout with my current stock, but he seems to be doing just fine..

So what tank size is he in and what are his tankmates?

Really the only one that would be a concern would be the male Blue Acara, he wooped up on another fish.. smaller than him though.. I truly feel that it'll stay calm.. hoping at least..

he'll be fine imo. convicts are tanks, they can take a lot of beating. i had 4 small convicts with my 7" jaguar for 2 months and they were perfectly fine, other than the smallest one, the jag ate him lol.

Good for you! I saw a Convict at the LFS last month that dropped my jaw. He was almost 7" long, 5" tall, and 3" wide. At least he seemed this big. Who would trade in a fish like that? I pictured him going ballistic in someone's tank, clobbering every other tankmate. (He wasn't there the other day. Maybe he'll behave in his new home.)

Thanks guys, I'm tempted to get him a female but I don't want that to bring out the 'bad boy' in him.. if it exists at all... I'll wait at least till he's all healed up..

Very nice con! I have one about 3-4 inches that handles herself fine with a Jd and GT much larger than her.

I'd skip getting him a female in there though. Cons in breeding mode are a force to be reckoned with.
