average fire eel growth rate?

My fire eel was 3" back in April and now it's around 7". I believe they are really slow growers. Might take several years to get to the 30" mark.
depends on the genetics, ive had one grow like a weed while the other one grew only a few inches in a year
how long would one last in a 55gal? i had one before but it choked to death after a week...i now have tsns in the 180gal so till i finish my big tank in a few yr i would like it to be in my 55gal....
