I don't know much about shark fishing but I know that in most sport fishing if the hook is not set in or on the mouth it is considered a fault and it is not legal to keep them.

PITA? hahaha like pita bread? or do you mean PETA? and its not like people are starving...go to the store and by your fish...no ones like...oh i hope i can eat ray and thrasher shark tonight lol.
Why is it a person here can be flamed for catching a fish and not get any disciplinary action. If i did the same style of flaming elsewhere my post would be gone and i would have a warning in my in box. Let the man keep his fish. Also a fact about farmed salmon. They tend to have more mercury than a wild salmon and the farms are very detrimental to the environment.

That is not the hook, rather a pier gaff. its tied to a rope and lowered in the water to bring up the fish.
Fresh shark is FANTASTIC but a real PITA to prepare right as it has to be done immediately upon death and shark skin will make the finest blade dull by just looking at it!
