However sarcastic this may or may not have been meant, I think its a legitimate question. How do they determine whether he has an advantage because of his prosthetic legs? I mean there are a lot of things that can be done to them to make them stronger than the human legs his competitors will be running on. Think of the precedent this will set....
+1

Yeah, before you know it, Athletes all over the world will be amputating their own legs just to get a mechanical advantage!

Exactly my point. Not sure if anyone else remembers this. Casey Martin was a young golfer winning on the Nike Tour and moved up to the Pros. He has a medical condition called Weber syndrome which affects his right leg. He wanted the right to drive a cart because of the pain he suffers from walking so much on the course. He sued and the US Supreme Courts asserted that the PGA could not lawfully deny him the option to ride in a golf cart between shots.
Many like the famous Arnold Palmer did not like the decision and claimed that it gave Casey an Advantage.

yep, or injecting themselves with chemicals that give them advantages at pointless activities while ruining their bodies...oh wait...

Isn't there something like the para-olympics or something for people who are disabled / handicapped to compete in? so technically i would say this is more of a publicity stunt than anything else... although don't get me wrong, i'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but just seems like the bent the rules in order to let him play if you will...

Are you guys serious right now? The man with zero legs has a competitive advantage? Hahahaha. Look up Katt Williams poor lil tink tink skit on YouTube. Bunch of haters. That skit is from when an American amputee had qualified 4 years ago

I do say he should not be able to compete due to not qualifying in the right time period though

Artificial legs can be lighter, stronger, longer, more flexible, less actual body, so less strain and less energy spent, they can be designed to accommodate and amplify the energy the athlete is capable of putting into his stride.....so, yeah, we're sayin he may have an advantage...or at least asking how they intend to stop him from having an advantage because its a very realistic possibility.

i hear what you're saying but do you hear what you're saying.........THE GUY WITH NO LEG HAS A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE mahahahahaha
