The sturgeon are back in our local rivers, and they are jumping again this year.

(my brother got hit by one a while back and it nearly broke his arm, and there were some posts last year)

Anyway, this pic was in our local small town paper today, it really puts these fish into perspective. Hope you sturgeon owners have a tank enough for them when they are grown...

The Monterey Bay aquarium has a really nice I believe its a green sturgeon (not enough time to count the scales lol). I can't remember which tank though. Oh well nice big to what looked like 6 feet long. If your in California and love big sturgeon definitely a must see. That is until we get the aquarium going here in Fresno. Then it will be a must see here.

the tennesee aqaurium has like a sturgeon touch tank a big huge one.

nice pic, does anyone know why sturgeon jump out of the water

They jump for a few reasons, mostly unknown. The best documented hypothesis is to dislodge parasitic lamprey and maybe other parasites. Most sturgeon will do this as will Paddlefish.

where in California can you catch sturgeons? And is their any known species of sturgeons that can tolerate a 76-82 degree temperature? if so which ones?
