So it looks like the mouth of the average peacock bass is going to be about 2/3 of its height at the tallest point, and the height is about a third of the length. So a 10" bass would be a bit over 3" tall, which would mean that the mouth would be about 2" in diameter, so any potential tankmates would have to be considerably larger than that. Larger than 3" would probably be a good bet.
That rules out leopard ctenopomas unless I could grow one to theoretical max size (they're usually maybe 5", 6" or more is theoretically possible). It also rules out most bichirs, and the jewel cichlid would probably be a bit of a risk. A chunky royal pleco would be safe, though, and so would the silvers and datnoids.
