durius you cant get mad at him for buying the painted fish when you buy those fish the store owners and employees dont tell you what they go thru in order to paint them. to be honest all pet owners are abusive in one way or a nother weather you take impeccable care of your pets or not people catch and take these animals out of their natural environment and house them in cages and tanks in their homes. then keep them there for years on end until the animal dieds of old age or other reasons . i understand your point of abuse but you have to understand this is that local pet stores dont care about animal curelty and how they got the way they are all they care about is making money.

about 4 months ago I saw some exochochromis anganys fry (1 inch) for 10 bucks each at a reputable LFS and had to force myself away since I had nowhere to raise them so I was completely bummed...

Fast forward to 24 hours ago I check the same LFS and in the assorted Africans tank is a single exo for the $2.50 the rest of the assorted hybrids, mbuna, and haps this time however I have a growout tank to raise him until he fits in my big tank with my other haps. Turning rapidly into my favourite fish, very colourful for his size and plenty of personality.

Thats what i said. It is important to show people how bad that procedure is. If no one buys such fish, the market collapses. Things can be changed. In germany for example such giant chicken farms are banned as animal abuse. Same about same cat, dog, fish and bird breeds. Such short legged cats for example are not allowed to breed.

This may sound sad but some lfs just replace the dyed fish when they die with more of them. I've been to a lfs that has dyed fish but doesn't sell any of them but they still keep restocking them. I think they think that eventually a person who doesn't know much about fish will buy them one day. It's pretty stupid to dye and tattoo fish in the first place. It looks like a kindergartener drew on them with a crayon.

there is really nothing you can do about it i've been to pet land discounts and their the same way the fish always restock the fish after they died. last time i was there a lady came talking to the employee telling them that she always buys colored parrots but they always die all her other fish are alive and fine but the colored parrots never lived for long. so i jumped in and exampled to her about the abuse and things the fish go thru in order to be painted.

Today I got my girlfriend a fish for her birthday. I walk in a LPS and looking around, I saw a huge 2 to 3 foot Congo eel! Only $60 But I dont have room to get him and I know if I was to get him Ill only have problems with him eating my other fish. Tell me of a time you saw a fish that you had to walk away from at a LPS and kill yourself now for walking away.

Actually today I saw an 8" pleco for $8! At my lfs it was one of the small ones and he tripled in size the guy said. But I also saw some parrot fish like 2" and they were only $5! I was like "don't do it save your money!" and I would have bought all of them except I had to save my money (spent it later on that day on other fish lol) and I had to go somewhere and they wouldn't have lasted like 5 hours. So that sucked! But this lfs is always way way way over priced like a male betta is $8 a guppy Is $10 a pair and some tinfoil barbs were $15 for 2" ones but I will go back and buy some of them soon when I get more money. But I really like parrots but I'm pretty sure my jacks will kill them not sure I have to see first

I will not stay silent about animal abuse. How can you love the hobby when you support a barbaric and cruel practice that is extremly painful for the fish and is banned in most civilized countries? You won´t find that crap in a EU LFS. Here for your information what you support:

come on dude its not like they cut off its fins and replaces them with another fishes like franken fish or something. The fish is just fine, it ate today and is health with a good home. If you think its bad how about I tell you that I feed all my fish live, hell I watched my rbps divower a mouse! so just go back to keeping your fancy goldfish and leave us be!

Its about as bad. Imagine someone peeling of the first few layers of skin and painting or tattooing you while you hold your breath and then shutting down your immune system while you try to heal

How about you make your own thread so people that dont care dont have to read all these post of you crying. you changed the hole Idea of this thread, It wasent a crime that I got him. My girlfriend loves him and is happy and shes going to take good care of him. and really wouldnt I be saving him? so go have you mom heat up some warm milk for you and gat some sleep in the basement. take care now.
