x2 on the earthworm suggestion. No better way to get it eating quickly and bulk up IMO. I feed mine 3mm NLS, earthworms and sinking carnivore pellets. They cannot resist the movement of live earthworms. I feed mine every day/every other day.

It is good, but not nearly as good as NLS. A simple search online to see if it is even an option would clarify if it is even woth discussin.
If you could get it and tried it exclusively for a few months you would see why so many people are so passionate about it. There simply isn't a comparison.

The comparison between the two will never come from scientists doing an experiment. It comes from the aquarists who have actually tried both and find a big difference in the two. As stated, I used Hikari extensively before trying NLS and trust me, there is a big difference. This goes right along with what so many others who have actually tried NLS have found (not just people who argue against it because others recommend it).
Long term NLS doesn't cost more. It is very high quality and you don't have to feed as much and the larger container you buy the cheaper it is per weight. Many people who use it will tell you it lasts surprisingly long.
I don't know why you wouldn't do a quick search online to see what is and is not available to make sure you are feeding the best food available, but that is your decision.
I hope you get and enjoy axolotls as much as I have and that they do well for you, whatever they end up eating.
