Baby Aro not eating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
success... I just got back from LFS.. got freeze dried krill, frozen bloodworms, wax worms and small crickets... krill & blood worms were not successful.. but he wolfed down 3 crickets like it was his job... I just would like him to move to pellets completely instead of live food of any sort.. but I also don't want him to starve to death... I think I am going to have to wait till he is a big bigger and stronger before I can really try to wean him off the live food...

At least try to pull the big legs off the crickets

Pellets are to hard for baby arowana, at about 5" you can start on pellets. In the mean time freeze dryed bloodworms are best. Mix in some freeze dyed krill/shrimp, tetra brand is soft some other brands are to hard. You can also offer some quality flake food with the blood worms. Baby crickets are good they have a soft exoskeleton, make sure you feed the crickets some shaved carrots befroe feeding to your aro. As you aro gets bigger start mixing in broken pellets, if you can get a soft pellet it may take quicker.

Lots of variety at a young age will make for a better feeder when it gets older.

get him to eat then try to wean on to pellets...try crickets meal worms...feeders

yeah.. I don't want to lose him to the crickets... but the ones I used were some seriously small crickets... like the size of an ant... right now I was most concerned with him having not eaten for 3-4 days... I will keep trying the small pellets and other foods

go with small crickets, freeze dried bloodworms, or i find freeze dried plankton to be good as well.

Small pieces of shrimp, fish, frozen bloodworms, anything to get him eating regularly. Then start mixing in the pellets. As stated previously get more cover and/or dimmer lighting. Good luck with the little guy.

Seems everyone's advice is on the mark:)

btw.. what kinda of Baby Aro is it???

Jardini? Silver? Black? African?
