Baby Arow feeding question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if he is picky crickets are a good idea
toss a cricket and then a pellet....soon he will get the idea that what hits the water is food. Try to feed from the same place every time.
mine goes crazy for shrimp, beefheart, krill, cichlid pellets, cod, earthworms, and very seldomly a few feeders to keep him active.

once he starts eating be prepared.....he will grow 1-2" a month

Ok I will. Question. I live in New york. If i build a pond in my back yard, I already have permition, would i be able to keep my guy in there during the summer?

Hey all, great news! The little fellah is eating, and like a champ, I might add :). He sure is a cool little guy, and although this may be my imagination, I think he may be starting to realize me, because when ever i come up to the tank, he swims up to the glass for food :). Thanks for all your great suggestions!

what did you get him to start eating?

Well, I tried the mysis one more time, and he took it! from then on, I was able to feed him black worms too. I'd use a pipette squeeze it so the worms were hanigng out, but still in the pipette then put it infront of him, and hed go for it every time :). Now all i need is a name for the little guy.

I use cocktail shrimp....try cutting them into really small cubes to see if he will take them. the sooner the better. Also cichlid pellets are a good thing to get him used to. His color will really pop in no time. can you get any pix up?

Sure, I'd love to, i'll take a few tomorrow. He's actually at my school, because the day i brought him home, after months of seeming fine-ness in my tank ,lol, i saw two dead fish. man, was i bugging! But I'm pretty lucky, in that my uncle is the Marine Bio teacher in my school and I just brought him in the next day :) and found a place for the little fella. I put him in with some Axolotls I'm rearing to put into the school library's tank, a 90 gallon amazon tank under my direct control, :). I have to make sure everything i put in is atleast 5 or six inches, or the fresh water baracuda, aka el diablo, tears it to shreads. We lost a 5.5 inch aro in there already. poor guy.- My guy is not going in with that monster for sure :). -Well back to what I was saying, I've tried Cichlid pelets, he just doesnt go for em.:( I'll try shrimp :).

I'm really happy. Today I was able to feed the little fellah 2 guppies AND Black worms!! I'm really happy that hes starting to adjust. When I put in the second guppy, i bit bigger one I might add, my little arrow jumped over a plastic plant out of the water to get him! :) I am soo proud :).
