Baby Arow feeding question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
try cutting up some beef heart for em that will get him growing fast.....enjoy

Sure, will do. Does Beef Heart do anything for thier color like shrimp does? Or does it just jolt thier gowth? I'd love a big Aro, but at the moment, I am rather short in the giant tank department. does anyone here have a large tank they'd be willing to sell at a reasonable price?

beefheart will help their color by keeping the diet varied. Keep an eye on ebay and our buy/sell forum. You will see huge tanks pop up rather frequently

Thanks alot, will do. If I built a pond at my home with the right dementions, would I be able to keep my Aro outside during the summer? The temperature is usually from 80 to 90 degrees, and if the water wasn't warm enough already, couldnt I heat the pond?

in theory yes you could. but you have to think about critters getting the aro, acid rain (dont know if its common there) the aro jumping, contaminents of any other sort.....or someone stealing it;) I could work though .

Makes good sense. I still have alot to think about to prepair for my monster when get gets full grown. How have you guys delt with your Aros when youve gone off to college? I'm leaving next year, and have a few possible places for my guy. A) Give him to my uncle, who works as a Marine Bio teacher, or give him back to the pet store owner who i bought him from, that is a friend of mine. If I do that, I hope I'd be able to get him back, or atleast see him when I'm on break or done with college. Any suggestions, or stories of experience of what to do with an Aro when you go off to school?

I was just thinking- could you buy an inflatable pool, fill it with water, condition it, hook it up to a few large cannister filters, cycle it and use it for fish? I was thinking if so, inflatable pools are pretty cheap, some at an even better price than a tank just over a hundred gallons! It's basically a pond you dont have to build, you could heat it, and I dont see why you couldnt even plant it. Is this possible?

try small chunks of frozen brine too but when you feed him try to drop it in the water just in front of him as he is swimming it seems to get there attention and they like things that move but are not hard to catch. just my opinion hope it helps
but dont be skeert !! :banhim:

Well, guys, thanks alot for all the great info and help, my little fellah ate 4 guppies today! I put in two for him and one for each little Axolotl, but he would have absolutely nothing with sharing :). Even though hes becomming a little glutton, I'm soo happy to see he has a strong appatite. On the other hand, I've got an eye on his eating habits, and wont let them get out of hand with his consumption ;). Thanks again for all your great recomendations and information,

when your aro gets bigger... it could bite and break the inner lining of the pool.
